Boise EcoVillage Project

Food Production

Organic Farms

Provide food for residents and guests.  Establish a CSA to distribute local organics to the surrounding community.  Operate a road side veggie stand and marketplace.

Seed Library

We will join the Snake River Seed Cooperative, practice the art of seed saving, and learn from experts like Casey O’Leary of Earthly Delights Farm and Bill McDorman of the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance.

Perennial Food Forests

Once established they provide an abundance of food, shelter, soil protection, water retention, micro-climates, and diverse habitat.  They are resilient, create forage for beneficial insects, pollinators, and birds, require minimal inputs and energy resources, repair damaged ecologies, and positively impact economic prosperity and community well being.

Animal Husbandry

We would like to raise chickens and goats to provide residents and guests with eggs and milk products like yogurt and cheese.

Growing the Next Generation of Farmers

Farming is a vital occupation for human survival and should not be left to corporations.  We are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of organic gardens and small community farms.  We seek to develop successful business models for local farmers.

Permaculture

“The conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems, which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems.”

~ Bill Mollison
